I can't even remember which day it was. All I know is that we spent every day either at the beach or at the pool. The best kind of vacation.
Mama and papa traded Sadie for Georgie and took us big kids to Hunting Island, our very favorite place when we've been to the coast previously.
We ate lunch under the shadow of the lighthouse.
Mama, you're so funny.
We all looked inside, but us girls weren't all enough to climb to the top. Henry was just barely tall enough-with shoes on, so he got to go up with Papa. No surprise that mama stayed on the bottom.
From the top, they could see mama standing on the foundation of the the lighthouse keeper's old house. Henry wants to know why old houses always burn down and why they always keep the foundation intact?
After 167 steps to the top, Henry was pretty pleased with himself.
That's a lot of steps back down!
The boys practiced making echoes while they climbed.
Henry insisted we take the wagon with the trailer so that the girls didn't have to walk.
Did you know that when they want to shoot jungle scenes for movies, they often shoot here? The Vietnam scenes for Forrest Gump were filmed here.
We made it on the boardwalk, but had to abandon the wagon as soon as we hit the sand.
Hey there, stranger.
