Just a mere 90 minutes from our home is a Bavarian village nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. Mama and Aunt Jenni snagged a groupon to get cheap hotel rooms, so during our spring break, the Tallers drove south and we headed to Helen, Georgia.
It's been pretty hot (high 80s) and June dressed herself in a turtleneck, a flannel skirt, and thick tights. Mama finally did talk her into taking the tights off.
Out hotel was right on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. The kids immediately were drawn to jumping on the rocks.
I wanted to go in too, but mama wouldn't let me.
Henry is getting pretty bold.
Behind Evie, there's a pretty good view of the backside of our hotel.
After our dip, Papa and Uncle Jim took the big kids out for a round of miniature golf.
If you don't have a feel for what kind of town Helen is, take note that there were at least two miniature golf courses.
Perfect form!
And they got pirate hats to wear too!
So if everyone else was playing golf, where were Aunt Jenni, Mama, and I? And why is Aunt Jenni holding a doll?
Because we were going to Babyland General Hospital- the place where all Cabbage Patch Kids are born!
Since none of the other kids were interested in visiting Babyland General, and I showed a slight interest, it scored me my own Cabbage Patch Kid- Genevieve Catalina. I even have the adoption papers to prove she's mine!
After a full day, we were famished. So we headed to a local purveyor of fine German food. It all tasted great until Mama found a huge bug in Uncle Jim's spaetzel. That bad news was that mama didn't get to taste the spaetzel (it looked really good). The good news was that they let the grown ups drink on the house for the rest of the meal. A few rounds of Oktoberfest later, we were all thankful for that fly.
