After the first trip to the beach, June was a little miffed that mama didn't pack her a bathing suit. So when we got home, she instantly went upstairs and picked out an outfit for herself.
And this is what she came up with. Note the bikini bottom with a skirt AND pants. And the headband belt. And she's showing us how strong she is.
Since the weather has been nice, we've been eating outside a lot lately. As usual, Jo remains the best eater of the bunch. But she hates bland food. For instance, she won't eat plain peas and couscous unless mama douses it in spicy sriracha sauce.
Coming in close second is me(!), formerly notorious for refusing to eat anything. But now that I'm 6, I'm much more willing to try new things. I even discovered that he loves smoked salmon.
On Saturday, mama, June and I headed to Picken to visit the County Museum.
The museum was hosting a show of all the school's art work and my turtle was one of 5 picked from my grade to be displayed.
Look at these two excited kids by the elementary school's entries.
After the County Museum, we headed to Hagood Mill, a working grist mill that runs one Saturday a month, along with a variety of period reenactors who quilted, played banjos, baked bread, and worked in the blacksmith shop.
We were all very impressed by the grist mill, and the "big gear" as June called it.
While we were up by the water, we decided to take a little hike on the nature trail.
We were lucky enough on our hike to pass someone who pointed out an Oconee Bell, a rare flower that is found only in a small part of the upstate.
And on the way home, we stopped for icees! Best day ever!!!!
