Happy 4th of July!- Georgie.

We were a little bummed to not have any fourth of July plans this year. But we had just gotten back from 3 weeks out of town, so we didn't want to do too much. Mama and papa decided to not even taken us out to see fireworks this year. (Luckily we saw a few private fireworks display driving one night, so we didn't miss out entirely.)

But mama was very excited when, at the last minute, we were invited to a party by some of our neighbors.
She was excited mostly because she was dying to try out making this awesome flag cake.

The party was fun and mostly attended by a surprising number of Catholic homsechoolers in our neighborhood. If you've been to the South, you know there aren't very many Catholics down here. And for the first time in a long time in a community filled with academics who have maybe 2 kids max, we were the small family with "just" 3 kids.

Henry earned an extra "stick-in-the mud" badge when he refused to play with any of the many kids at the party. He sat in his lawn chair, trying not to get his socks and sandals dirty. He did later move his lawn cahir down to the bottom of the makeshift slip-and-slide, where I'm sure he was lecturing the kids about the dangers of more than one kid sliding at one time.
June was brave enough to put on her suit, but not brave enough to actually throw herself down the slide.
Papa tried to give her a boost, but June did not like it. She spent hours running around the yard with a little girl named Madeline. They even had a lively sword fight with two croquet poles.
I spent the party hanging out on the blanket and making friends. And when Junie wasn't looking, I snuck drinks out of her Dora bottle.

Here's a bonus video mama forgot to post on the last post. Pure JoJo cuteness.
