Happy New Year!- Mama.

Happy New Year and welcome back to the blog. I took some time off of blogging while we were on vacation, so we're terribly behind now.
We got back into town on Thursday night and charted our trip on Google Maps. According to the interwebs, we drove at least 3,484 miles (though the kids were lucky enough to stay up north while we had to come back down to South Carolina before Christmas). Actually, papa got to fly from DC to Dayton, so I guess I win the prize for miles traveled by car (though papa did most of the driving). All in all, we were gone for 25 nights. And we managed to sleep in 13 different houses while we were gone. A big thanks to everyone who put us up while we were on the road.

It was hard coming home. Now we had to cook our own food, clean our own house and we don't have any extra adults to pay attention to our children. Arg. Add on the fact that in our first few days back the baby hasn't slept and Brandon was diagnosed with strep throat. Then tonight the furnace started buzzing and smelling funny. An late night overtime HVAC service call later, our heat pump has a new capacitor and our wallets are considerably lighter. And now they're forecasting 4-6 inches of snow on Sunday night. That's not much for you folks up north. But down here, that much snow could shut down the county for a week. Here's hoping we make it out alive.

I'm not usually in the habit of making new year's resolutions, but this year I'm going to put in a concerted effort to proof the blog. As you've probably noticed, I don't do it often. Generally, I expect that Brandon will fix any mistakes for me. But as it turns out, he stopped doing that some time ago. Looks like it's back on me to do the dirty work.
