Egg hunt- Georgie.

We learned a great rule for next year's hot southern Easter Egg hunt. Freeze the chocolate before you stuff the eggs, so it doesn't turn into a disaster in your sunny yard. At least the azaleas were beautiful.
Henry and Grace found their eggs quickly and helped June find some of her own.
What? An egg for me?
Here's our best shot of the 5 of us. Let's make it 3 years next year!

Egg dyeing- June.

In what mama considers a stroke of genius, we moved egg coloring outside this year. Mama let us go at it and didn't worry about the consequences. I chose pink and refused to put my egg in any other color.
When Audrey wasn't busy running through the water table Henry set up, she helped Miss Becky dye her eggs.
Henry wanted to make his eggs Clemson colors.
Grace shows off her finished egg.
It was so much fun until I spilled my cup all over myself. Good thing I was already wearing pink.

Per the usual Grace and Henry dynamic, they tried to see who could eat the most eggs. Henry told grace that he had already eaten 4 eggs. Grace responded by eating 4 eggs. Henry responded by saying he'd really only eaten 2.

Easter bunnies- Henry.

We woke up on Easter morning to find our Easter baskets full of treats and candy!
Gracie was up early waiting for her bunny.
Audrey's mom let the girls follow our Easter morning tradition of eating our bunny before breakfast. She learned her lesson last year and did not get them huge, solid chocolate bunnies this year.
June's stock food pose.
Let's dig in!
Junie got that hair bow in her basket, and it was the only thing mama let her wear and she prepared to eat her chocolate. But in true Seibert form, the bunny didn't last long enough to melt all over her.
Our chief Easter tradition remains mama's lamb cake. This year, mama stopped using cake mixes and used the recipe on the back of the ancient box the cake mold came in. Believe it or not, the cake came out perfect for the first time ever. It looks a little funny because mama insisted on using her favorite coconut pecan frosting under the coconut. My favorite part was the green grass and the jelly bean eggs.
Since everyone else got candy for breakfast, mama melted a cadbury egg on top of her pancake. And it was delicious.
Poor Georgie. She didn't get a chocolate bunny and she didn't get any of the lamb cake. Maybe next year, Sweet G.

Irritated- mama.

Some of you may have seen a few posts last week that have since disappeared. Apparently, something went wrong with blogger and I lost 2 posts that had been published and a further four posts that were scheduled to be published. Color me irritated, especially since we are once again weeks behind.
So bear with us as we work on re-writing all of those blog posts. Until then, check out this picture of Sweet G with her new quilt from Grandma Seibert. Isn't it awesome?

Easter guests!- Georgie.

Who was mama cleaning for? Our very favorite girls- Audrey and Grace! They came to spend the weekend with us (and their mom and dad). We had a very busy Friday which included two Earth Day celebrations.
For supper, we went out to our favorite family barbeque place. All you can eat chopped barbeque, tons of sides, cookies, and live bluegrass music. You can't beat it.

While mama and I sat in the rocking chairs up front, the kids danced around.

On Saturday morning, the big kids went to the park for the town's Easter Egg hunt. (Seriously, another hunt?) I had to stay at home and take a nap.

As usual, June did not perform well under pressure.
After I woke up from my nap, we all went to Central for the annual Railroad Festival. Henry's been counting down the days for months. He marked it on his calendar as "TF" (for Train Festival.) He was not amused when mama would ask if we were going to the Tupperware Fair this weekend.
Here's our first try at a group shot- Grace, me, Henry, Audrey, and June.
We love this festival because it's very small and most everything is free. Including this wagon train. We stood in line while the driver was at lunch and we were the first to get a ride.
See you later, mama!
This is our favorite shot from the weekend. Hard to believe that Gracie is only 4 months older than Henry. They are both growing up quickly. Usually Henry and Grace together means mass chaos and terrible noise. But as they've gotten older, there were actually a few moments here and there when they played together and worked on projects without driving everyone crazy. It was wonderful.

The best part of the festival was the church that had set up an ice cream sundae bar. For 25 cents, you got a plastic stadium full of ice cream and your choice of toppings. Amen to that.

Singing in the rain-June.

I'm getting bolder the older I get. Mama and Papa have to be careful to lock the doors, because I'll just put on my shoes and head outside if I get the urge. One morning it was raining as we came home from the gym. As mama went upstairs to put Georgie down for her nap, I stayed outside and jumped in mud puddles until I was soaked.

As mama cleaned up for some visitors, Henry and I played quietly by ourselves. We pretended that Henry was a baby in my doll bed. (That plastic lime must be his nuk.)

I took very good care of my baby. Until I decided I wanted to be the baby and Henry refused to get out of the bed. Then we started fighting and mama had to put the bed away.

Strawberry farm- Henry.

Everything has changed so much since I was a baby, especially the standards of what you can and can't feed your baby. Mama is pretty sure that you weren't supposed to give kids under 1 strawberries when I was little, but now it's okay. In fact, the only things the doctor told mama Georgie couldn't have were eggs and honey. You can even give babies nuts now (if you grind them up, of course).
Whether it was okay or not, we found out that Georgie is NOT allergic to strawberries when we visited the strawberry farm last week.
I remain a champion picker. I picked over 9 pounds on this trip.
June didn't like walking on the bumpy ground, so she picked from one spot. Georgie didn't pick anything.
We like this farm because they plant on covered raised beds so the strawberries are easier to pick.
We had a great time, even though mama later reconsidered taking a very mama-attached baby and an arthritic 3-year-old out in a bumpy field. Lucky I was there to help her out.
