A few weeks shy of her third birthday, June is on the cusp of- something. Here's hoping whatever it is is less dramatic that 2 was.
When she's happy- she's very happy. And when she's mad- get out of her way. Last Thursday, she was very happy because she got a Valentine at school with a heart shaped sucker. It doesn't get much better than that. She was happy even though I made her wear a long sleeve shirt and tights under her dress- a sure way to make her mad. This kid would wear summer dresses year round with no tights, socks or pants. And if you put a sweatshirt on her, she takes it off as soon as she gets inside.
June asks to go to school everyday, though she only goes twice a week. From the impression I get from her teachers, she has a great time until about 11am, then she starts to fall apart. The pesky thing about school is that there are other kids there that actually want to play with June, which she finds irritating. And heaven forbid they want to be near the teacher she has latched onto (usually Miss Amy). When I pick her up at noon, she is usually on the playground sitting on Miss Amy's lap singing songs.
Horsies continue to be all the rage in our house. She generally has two or three specific horsies she carries everywhere. We went through a week where she became very attached to a stuffed horse and a baby blankie with a rabbit head. She carried the rabbit EVERYWHERE. But as quickly as it started, she now leaves them in bed instead of carting them around.
Bedtime is getting a little better. She still takes a while to settle down at night, but at least she's quieter about it. The baby is now in their room (that we lovingly refer to as the "bunk house") most nights and June makes it through most nights without having her flashlight books and bunny taken away.
June's most infuriating habit is her insistence that every time we arrive home, it must be mealtime. When we go to the gym in the morning, we get home around 10:30 am. Then she spends the next hour and a half demanding "butter jelly" sandwiches. And now that spring has sprung down here in Dixie, she demands them "Outside. Now!" When she's not throwing a fit, our outside lunches are quite fun.
June's favorite activity continues to be singing. She loves making up songs, but hates it when you make up words to her song. I tried to change B-I-N-G-O to J-U-N-E-R and it did not go over well. Roughly translated, I think the lyrics to this song are "I made sisters. I made it today." It's become a regular in June's song rotation.
Olivia and I love the dramatic ending..."I made SISTERSSSSSS! Olivia pounded the table in appreciation.
