All about Georgiana- Mama.

Georgie is really coming into her own.
Now that she's mastering the use of her arms, she likes to sit in her high chair watching the kids play at the table.
Georgie continues to be a very pleasant and social little girl. At the gym, she's graduated from her car seat into the walker. There she gets to sit upright and watch all the other kids. She generally takes a short nap a soon as we get home.
On the sleep front, things have improved dramatically! Sweet Georgie continues to be a great napper. She sleeps for about 45 minutes in the morning and tucks in a solid 3-4 hour nap in the afternoon. She goes to bed at 8 with the big kids, though I think she'd prefer to go to sleep earlier. But I like keeping her up so they can all sleep in the same room. It keeps Henry and June from getting to rowdy. Plus, I don't have to move her out of our room and risk waking her when I want to go to bed and read my Harry Potter.
We had a rough month over Christmas and another rough month after we got home. Georgie would generally sleep for 4 hours then spend the rest of the night waking up hourly and struggling to get back to sleep. As 5 months loomed, I became increasingly irritated by having to nurse more than once a night and we let her cry it out on many occasions with limited success.
One night, I decided to put an extra layer of clothes on her. (T-shirt, long sleeve shirt, pants, warm jammies, AND a fleece sleep sack) As it turns out, our little Carolina girl was just cold. After we started bundling her for extreme cold, she started sleeping from 8pm until 4 or 5 am. Brandon also took this route and started wearing a bath robe to bed, saying everyone is happier in a warm house. Despite their entreaties, I kept the thermostat at 63 and still go to bed in shorts and a tank top and kick the covers off in the night.
During our sleep crisis, we stopped swaddling Georgie at night. For as traumatic of an event as it was for Henry and June, Georgie took it in stride. Granted, Henry and June were good sleepers, so any disturbance was noticeable. Georgie was already sleeping so horribly, we didn't notice much. It did take a few days to get used to being able to kick and flail all the time. That little girl is a kicker. Now she requires her purple blankies to hold while she falls asleep. Otherwise, she pulls her nuk out and can't get it back in.

And take a look at that gummy grin- there are no teeth close to popping out in there.
