Easter Egg Hunt- Henry.

On Saturday morning, we went to the city Easter Egg hunt.

Georgie was the first up in the 0-2 category. I don't want to brag, but she nailed it.

Every age group had a different baseball field. I don't know if it's just South Carolina, but I thought easter egg hunts were about hiding eggs, not just scattering thousands across an open field and letting kids fight it out.

She sure showed those 0-1 year olds what she was made of.

Final egg count: about 10.

Up next was June in the 3-4 age group. Papa took her out and got an agonizingly long video. If you watch it, you'll see that June only wanted to get purple eggs. Plus, her age group was easily the most crowded. Total egg count: 7.

I was the last to go in the 5-6 age group. There weren't nearly as many kids in my group and I'd already seen two previous hunts, so I had a good strategy. When we lined up, I got close to the outfield.

Then I dominated. Total egg count: Over two baskets full (I dumped a full basket into mama's purse). On our way off the field, we saw a kid feeling bad because he didn't get very many eggs (probably started close to home base) so I gave him a good portion of mine. Mama said that was nice then treated me to a free hot dog.

Chau Ram County Park- Henry.

Evie had one request for spring break- go back to Chau Ram County Park.

We got out to the rocks as fast as we could. Then I gave a classic Henry pose.

June and Aunt Jenni discovered thousands of little tadpoles.

While Jo and Annalise looked for precious gems. (Unfortunately, every time Annalise found a rock she wanted to keep, she'd put it in a special place that Georgie would immediately find and then she'd pitch everything back in the water.

This kid loves throwing rocks.

We just had to make sure she stayed clear of the stagnant, warm water pools.

After a bit, June started to get bold on the rocks.

And I got goofy with Uncle Jim.

Mama was a little nervous about the big slick rocks, but the big kids really had a good time.

After mama took the girls home, I stayed with the Tallers to do some more exploring. And we found a path that took us to the top of the waterfall. And on the way home we stopped for ice cream. Thanks Aunt Jenni and Uncle Jim!

Lego contest- Henry.

The Ohio Seiberts were also on Spring Break too, so they issued a Lego Challenge across the miles.

First challenge- bunnies. Here's mine.

Aunt Elizabeth declared me the winner. I think it's because I added this special feature- the bunny pooping.

June started out with bunny ears.

Challenge 2- easter baskets.

June didn't make a basket. But instead she made a ballerina with a very tall hat.

After nap time, half of us went to the baseball game. And Aunt Jenni got us popcorn!

Mama, June and Annalise stayed home so June and Annalise could play house. And house means that Annalise is a mama dolphin and June is a mama cat. Then they set up house on the air mattress and take care of their babies.

Helen Day 3- Jo.

All good things must come to an end. Papa and Uncle Jim had to head back to Clemson on Monday night so Papa could teach.

That left mama and Aunt Jenni with these yahoos.

While the Taller girls went to visit the glass blowing company, we went to visit Charlemagne's Kingdom- an awesome model train display.

I want to eat in a restaurant like this!

And you can walk through the Alps! The guy who owns the shop built the entire model with his wife. And he was even from Germany- making this our favorite place in Helen.

After two days of catching a nap here and there, I was starting to get pretty tired.

We had one last picnic lunch overlooking lovely Helen, then hit the road for the ride back home.

Helen Day 2- June.

Settle in, this is a long post.

Helen, Day 2, started with a breakfast and a tour of the local chocolate shop (and a generous breakfast of chocolate-covered fritos). We played in the park and had lunch, then headed to the hills for some gem mining!

We bought a big bucket of rocks and started looking for precious gems.

Annalise found a whole bag of gems including rubies and emeralds.

Henry was very patient in his mining.

After a little nap, Jo showed up to join in the fun.

Georgie wasn't interested in the gems, but loved playing in the water.

But the day isn't over. We drove farther up in mountains to visit some waterfalls. On the drive, I got a little drowsy.

And we lost Henry too.

Next up, climb the trail to Anna Ruby Falls.

We took a few breaks on the hike up the mountain.

Henry pushed JoJo until the hills got too steep.

The Tallers stop for a nice family picture.

Finally, we made it to the top!

I don't know what exactly Henry is thinking when he gets his picture taken lately.

On the way back down, we stopped for another shot. I really wanted to sit up of the rock like the big kids.

I've really taken notice lately that I am not as big as the other kids. When we're playing with John, James and Andy, I've been pretty discouraged by the fact that their much faster than me. I tried to comfort myself by saying soon I'd be 6 too. Until Henry pointed out that when I'm 6, he'd be 8. Sigh.

Supper that night was at the Mexican restaurant. Guess who loves tacos?!?!

While JoJo was on a quesadilla high, we got a video of some of her words.

And guess who else got to sit at a table by ourselves. It actually made supper a very enjoyable experience. Maybe mama and papa should try it more often.

Now back to the hotel pool!
