Can you believe it? Mama is caught up with the blogging! Well, she had a little help, because last weekend we were downtown and she lost our camera. We're still hoping it turns up because it contains photos that would probably win prizes AND a picture of all three of us looking at the camera at the SAME TIME! No wonder she lost the camera.
Here are some pictures she does have. This is the pumpkin Henry picked out at a church festival we went to. Grace and Audrey (I still call her Aundrey) came to see us with their parents. He and Gracie decided to carve it to look like everyone's Halloween costumes. Pirates for Henry and I, a witch for Grace and Rapunzel for Aundrey. (You can't see it, but besides the bow, it's painted yellow on the back.) They put in a lot of hard work on this pumpkin.
On Saturday, we decided to do the full Washington DC experience. So we headed downtown, started at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and worked our way around the basin. Here are all 5 kids at the FDR Memorial. And we're all smiling! And looking in the same direction!
Next up, MLK, which was a first for mama.
We stopped at the District of Columbia World War Memorial for lunch and found the perfect picnic spot.
Next up, the Lincoln Memorial! We're so glad the Paytons came to visit. Instead of it being absolute madness like it used to be when we were all very little, it's actually pretty fun now. And that's speaking from 9 people spending the night in our tiny place.
The fun really started when we left the Natural History museum. Papa was a hero and took all 5 of us kids beck to our house on our own. He left the rest of the adults in DC and met up with a babysitter, so all the grownups could have a night out on our own. (Looking back, when we lived in DC, we were each other's primary babysitters, so this may actually be the first time the grownups have ever been alone without us.) Not that they were excited about it or anything.
They wondered around the city, drinking fancy coffee drinks and refusing to share with anyone. After papa came back down, they went out to eat, then went to a Father John misty concert. And didn't even get home until after 1 in the morning! Not that it stopped us from getting up any later in the morning. I hope they learned their lesson.
